INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE

SOCIAL INCLUSION AND EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES – SIEO 2016

Organized by the Social Work Department of the West University of Timisoara (Romania) and Faculty of Social Sciences of the Nord University (Norway)

Emerging from a profoundly humanistic perspective, the concepts of “social inclusion” and “equal opportunities” are the quintessence of the development level of a modern society, characterized by the constant preoccupation of ensuring for its citizens the right to participate equally and unobstructed to all areas of life.

The International Conference Social Inclusion and Equal Opportunities – SIEO 2016 will provide a forum for researchers, decision makers, practitioners and other stakeholders interested in the the policies, mechanisms, and methods for increasing social inclusion and ensuring equal opportunities for all citizens.

The event is organized within the project E-QUAL – QUALITATIVE RESEARCH ON PROFESSIONAL INSERTION OF VULNERABLE CATEGORIES, implemented by the West University of Timisoara, in partnership with North University and financed through by the Economic European Area Financial Mechanism 2009-2014 – “Research within Priority Sectors”, contract no. 13SEE/30.06.2014.

SIEO 2016 accepts the following types of contributions on the topics of Social inclusion and Equal Opportunities:

  • Research Papers
  • Abstracts
  • Case Studies
  • Work-in-Progress Reports or Proposals for Future Research
  • Reports on Issues Related to Social Inclusion and Equal Opportunities

All contributions will be evaluated by the SIEO’s Scientific Committee, who reserves the right to accept just those who are in accordance with the topics of the event. Each contributor will receive a Notification Letter regarding the decision of the Scientific Committee.

SIEO 2016 will also host a section dedicated to the ESA Research Network (RN26): Sociology of Social Policy, which invites network members and other sociologists/social scientists to submit abstracts to our midterm conference on The governance of inclusion in work and life-worlds. Papers on this topic addressing both theoretical perspectives and/ or empirical studies are welcome.

Presentations:
The following presentation formats will be possible at the conference:

  • Oral presentation
  • Poster presentation

Publication opportunities:

Selected abstracts and in-extesso papers will be provided with the opportunity to be published in the ISI Proceedings Indexed SIEO Conference Proceedings, which will be provided in printed format during the event, to all contributors.

Conference fees:

The event attendance is free of charge for all Conference participants with selected presentations.

Venue:

The event will be organized in Timisoara, Timis county, Western Region, Romania. The exact location of the event will be notified to all participants, in due time.

Important deadlines: 

  • April, 15th 2016 – Dead-line for the submission of abstracts
  • April, 15th 2016 – Notification regarding the acceptance of the abstracts
  • June, 15th 2016 – Dead-line for submission of in-extesso articles
  • July, 15th 2016 – Notification regarding the acceptance of the papers for the Conference Proceedings

Submissions for the Conference Proceedings received after June 15th 2016 or/and in a format different than specified will not be published. We strongly recommend early submissions to allow enough time for a review and feed back in case there are changes to be made in formatting.
